Eduka can use 8×8 as its SMS provider — sending school notifications and login security codes to families by text, with delivery tracked and costs accounted for message by message.
Why connect Eduka and 8×8?
8×8 is a global cloud communications provider with reliable SMS delivery. Connected to Eduka, your school’s 8×8 account becomes the channel for the text messages that matter — and because Eduka supports more than one SMS provider, 8×8 can be your primary channel or a failover alongside Twilio, so critical alerts still get through if one provider has trouble.
How does the integration work?
Enter your 8×8 credentials in Eduka’s Configuration module and Eduka sends SMS through the 8×8 API for two purposes: secure sign-in, where two-factor authentication codes are texted to staff or families, and notifications, where messages composed in Eduka’s Communication module — absence alerts, payment reminders, announcements — go out by SMS, triggered by an event or sent as a campaign. Every message is logged against its recipient, and 8×8’s delivery callbacks update each one as it’s delivered or fails.
What Eduka tracks
- Delivery status — each SMS is updated from 8×8’s delivery receipts (delivered, failed or undelivered), with the provider’s reason captured — for example a number rejected by the operator.
- Cost accounting — the price and billed segments are stored per message, so messaging spend stays visible.
- Provider failover — 8×8 works alongside Eduka’s other SMS provider, so a message that can’t go out one way can fall back to the other.
Built for school communication
The 8×8 integration works with Eduka’s Communication module and its login security, so SMS sits alongside email and portal messaging as one more reliable way to reach families — from routine reminders to emergencies.
