How does the integration work?
Enter your Twilio credentials in Eduka’s Configuration module and Eduka sends SMS through the Twilio API for two purposes: secure sign-in, where two-factor authentication codes are texted to staff or families, and notifications, where messages composed in Eduka’s Communication module — absence alerts, payment reminders, announcements — go out by SMS, triggered by an event or sent as a campaign. Every message is logged against the recipient with its Twilio identifier.
What Eduka tracks
- Delivery status — each SMS records its Twilio status (queued, sent, delivered or failed) via Twilio’s status callbacks, with any provider error captured against the message.
- Cost accounting — the price and number of billed segments are stored per message, along with the remaining balance, so messaging spend is always visible.
- Automatic failover — if a message can’t be sent through Twilio, Eduka can fall back to a second SMS provider, so critical alerts still get through.
