Eduka News

When initializing a new school year, Eduka automatically carries over the previous year’s financial settings: fees, deductions, payment methods, direct debits, payment schedules, and more.

This is a considerable time-saver, but it’s essential to check that these settings are still appropriate for the new school year before launching your invoicing.

We’ve put together a step-by-step guide to the key checks you shouldn’t skip.

Data under control, invoices under control, and therefore happy parents!

Starting next school year, Eduka is rolling out a lottery-based system for managing extracurricular activity (AES) registrations.

Thanks to a high-performing algorithm, the system recalculates each student’s satisfaction rate after every allocation. Students with the lowest satisfaction are given priority in subsequent rounds, ensuring that as many students as possible get at least some of their desired activities.

Adopt the lottery system* for your registrations:

  • Account for multi-session activities and avoid partial enrollment when a full program is required
  • Give weight to first choices
  • Encourage families to select multiple options
  • Distribute available spots fairly among all students

*Premium functionnality, contact our sales team.

Bilingual report cards: to adapt to the many school systems around the world, Eduka has rolled out, starting this year, the ability to display assessment report cards and the skills framework in two languages. If your platform supports display in two languages, you’ll benefit from a translation of all the delivered skills. The school will be able to independently translate anything it has customized within this framework. For a trilingual platform, the school will choose which two languages to adopt for the report card.

Attendance management: for the 2026 school year, Eduka is introducing management of students’ early departures during the day. The attendance management module already allowed certain classes to track absences by period, half-day, or full day. Teachers, student life staff, and parents will now be able to manage departures before a student’s scheduled end of classes.

During summer 2026, the new homepage design will be permanently rolled out (it has been available as an option for a few months now).

Built around dynamic, customizable widgets, it also improves the experience for Parents and Teacher profiles.

We recommend duplicating the default setup and to customize the layout and available widgets for each profile on your platform. You’ll discover new widgets along the way (student birthdays for teachers, student arrivals and departures for administrative staff, etc.).

Also take advantage of this update to enrich the school’s news feed and calendar, which will be accessible to parents by the end of summer.

Education world news

UNESCO and Kathmandu University have launched Leading Green Schools and Climate-Ready Classrooms, a certified micro-credential for school leaders and teachers across Nepal. The goal: bridge the gap between national climate commitments and actual classroom practice, in one of the world’s most climate-vulnerable countries.

A pilot is already reaching 100 schools across all seven provinces — a reminder that investing in teacher development remains one of the most effective levers for making climate education a daily reality.

For Wayne Holmes, Professor at UCL and UNESCO Chair on AI Ethics in Education, the real question isn’t how to use generative AI in the classroom, but whether and on what terms.

His core warning: these tools are designed to feel confident and human-like, which fosters over-reliance and risks undermining learner autonomy.

Before mastering prompts, he argues, students and teachers need to develop critical thinking — the ability to question, verify, and recognise when an AI is simulating certainty rather than delivering actual knowledge.
