SEPA Direct Debit lets a school pull tuition straight from families’ bank accounts across the eurozone under a single set of rules. Done by hand it means managing mandates in a spreadsheet, formatting bank files, and chasing rejections one by one. Eduka handles the entire chain inside your school management system, so collections go out on time and returns come back reconciled.

How does the integration work?

Set up in Eduka’s Finance module, each paying family gets a SEPA mandate: Eduka generates its unique mandate reference (RUM) and ties it to your school’s SEPA Creditor Identifier (ICS), and can produce the mandate as a PDF. When fees are due, Eduka builds a SEPA Direct Debit collection file — batched, with each debit correctly flagged as a first or recurring collection — for you to send to the bank. When the bank returns its response file, Eduka reads it back in and updates each payment automatically, matching any rejection to its SEPA return reason so your team sees exactly what failed and why.

What Eduka handles

• Mandates — unique mandate reference (RUM) and creditor identifier (ICS), status lifecycle and history, plus coverage so one payer’s mandate can cover several students and fees.
• Collection files — SEPA-compliant direct-debit batches, first (FRST) and recurring (RCUR) sequences handled automatically.
• Bank returns — the bank’s response file is imported and reconciled, with standard SEPA return reason codes mapped to each rejected debit.
• Beyond SEPA — the same direct-debit engine also drives other national schemes, including SIMT and GIRO.
